My Story
Malorie always knew that she had a heart for people. Her original plan was to have a lifelong career in the U.S. Army as an active-duty chaplain. Malorie enjoyed her time in service and felt passionately about serving in the military just like her older brother and grandfather’s, however, a medical discharge led to the dissolution of that dream. Within both herself and her peers, Malorie noticed a great need for mental health support. Malorie’s curiosity of the etiology and development of depression led her to switch from a MDiv to a M.A. Clinical Mental Health counseling. Once Malorie began her classes, she became passionate about trauma and the neuropsychological and neurophysiological concepts found within individuals exposed to trauma. Malorie’s experience with working with active duty and veterans showed the importance of being able to provide psychoeducation on trauma to individual clients. The developmental research that is being produced in the psychology field has shown all individuals that their symptomology is not due to a lack of mental toughness but is rather a direct result of their personal biology and lifelong experiences.
Malorie’s deep passion for research and others has led her to develop the curriculum and lead therapeutic childcare for the Manna resource Center. For the past year Malorie has taught children between the ages of 0-14 how to develop emotion regulation and emotional intelligence accomplished by different therapeutic techniques and interventions. Malorie brings her passion for education and research to every clinical conceptualization working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples/families. Malorie believes in the hope and healing that therapy can provide and because of that her main priority in counseling is for each client to feel cared for and safe.
