10 Steps to a Trauma-Empowered School

(3 hours)  - From Trauma- Informed to Trauma Empowered. Learn the 10 most effective steps towards changing the very foundation of your class or school. From passive to active, this training is filled with practical insights, strategies and hope that can be easily implemented on day 1. 

Engaging the Traumatized Student

(3-4 Hours) - Discusses the latest research on the brain as affected by trauma and integrates this information into the behavior as typically seen in at-risk children. Practical application and interventions for behavior in the home are discussed.

The Mental Health Crisis in Education

(Multiple versions from 1 hour to all day to 2 day) - This powerful training addresses the reality that almost all educators, social workers, school counselors and administrators are experiencing. They are working in a more stressful work environment with increasing demands, decreasing support and expected to teach more difficult students all while being expected to achieve similar or higher academic objectives. It will provide interventions and strategies as well as increased awareness of the reasons why this is occurring and begin to outline a step by step process, for both individual teachers, counselors as well as administrators, by which they can start to work within this changing educational landscape in a healthier, less stressed out manner.

Child Development & Trauma

(3-4 hours - preferable full day) - Overview of some of the major developmental milestones in children ages 0 months-18 years as related to the impact trauma may have on development and its subsequent connection to at risk behavior. Emphasis on practical interventions is discussed.

Understanding Attachment Disorder: A Systemic Approach to Treatment

(2-3 hours) - Discusses attachment disorder in the context of systemic treatment and some of the systemic inefficiencies that exacerbate diagnostic symptomatology and impede a more positive prognosis.

Building Resilience: Teaching Affect Regulation & Awareness to School Age Children

(3-4 hours) - Focuses on teaching the developmental and physiological aspects of affect regulation in children. Particular topics include PTSD and its impact on affect regulation, enuresis and encopresis, attachment disorder and non-verbal behavior associated with the aforementioned. Intervention strategies are presented to promote healthy emotional regulation and will focus on the published workbook titled My Feelings Workbook.

The Fearless Therapist: Strategies for Working With Challenging Clients

Creates a new lens from which to view to most difficult child and adolescent clients and students, and through multiple case examples coupled with humorous interactive dialogue, gives 60 creative practical strategies you can use right away to increase your effectiveness with these types of clients.
